SWEEP! Game 4

YESSSS! The Devils sweep the rangers out of the playoffs. The power play and the penalty killing were the story today as the Devils regained control after giving up an early 1-0 lead. Patrick Elias was outstanding. Marty Broduer was Marty. It all came together. It was great but they are still 12 wins away from the Stanley Cup. LET"S GO DEVILS........

Game 3

Ok so to me the theme of game 3, Devils v. rangers was the workman coming to work in the morning with his lunch pail and rolling up his sleeves and getting right to work. Which the Devils did scoring just 68 seconds into the first period. That took the highly charged ranger crowd out of the game and was pretty much the story for the night, 'cause when you have Marty Brodeur in net, well that makes any comeback almost impossible. Marty is now only 2 shutouts behind Patrick Roy for the all time shutout leader in the playoffs and he has a good chance to catch him this year if the Devils keep playing as they are.......Final Devils 3, rangers 0............ LET'S GO DEVILS.......

Game 2

As rangers color man, John Davidson would say 'OHHHH BABBBBY!!!!" WOW The Devils won game 2 on a hat trick by John Madden, which included two short handed goals. WOW! Still,as the Devils I heard in interviews after the game are, I'm taking a very careful take on game 3 at Madison Square Garden. It will be very tough to go into their house, so all I can say right now is: LET'S GO DEVILS !!!!!!

Never. Never Count your Chickens..............

The New Jersey Devils just plain out beat the rangers in game 1 of the best of seven series on Saturday afternoon. I just can't get too riled up just yet, just look at what happened today. The #8 seed Edmonton Oilers beat the #1 seed Detroit Red Wings AND the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Ottawa Senators, each in the second game of their respective series. So it's back to work tomorrow night for the Devils and may the best team win. LET'S GO DEVILS...............................................

The Zambonis: Sirius Dudes!

Well our favorite hockey band has made it to the radio: Sirius satellite radio that is. Heard the Hockey Monkey song three times today on the alt. nation program. Methinks that Dave Zamboni may soon need a larger helmet.............

LET"S GO DEVILS

Wow. It all comes down to Tuesday night. The final night of the 2005-2006 NHL season and the New Jersey Devils have a shot at winning their division. It is still a bit of a long shot. The Devils have to beat the Montreal Canadians, a team that needs a victory to insure that they get into the playoffs, and the New York Rangers have to lose. But the fact that it could happen has been an incredible story. The Devils have now won 10 straight games, which is the most by any team in the league this year, while the Rangers have hit a major slump at just the wrong time of the year. Even Jaromir Jager has fallen from the top of the goal scoring list (Jonathan Cheechoo of San Jose) and total points ( Joe Thorton also of the Sharks). So we are poised Tuesday night for what will be a great night of HOCKEY!!!!

A Good Day.....Spoiled???

Ok so I should take it easy and enjoy the great weather we are having.....BUT....

* The amount of homes being torn down and rebuilt on my route makes me wonder about what kind of dust I may be breathing ever day.....Asbestos anyone?

* The leaf blowers are in full bloom....kicking up dried dog poo, dried mouse poo, dried bird poo, heck dried fox poo, and dried coyote poo for all I know, into a fine cloud of poo dust.....

* And while we are speaking of lawn care in the wealthy community I serve, the town motto is "He who dies with the greenest lawn....wins!" Fertilizers and pesticides are also part of my dailey diet..

* And to get back to the construction we must include the every lovely scent of diesel smoke from dump trucks and so on.....

Do my lungs stand a chance????!!!!!!!

Modified Stock Car Racing and I.............

This is a photo by Mr. Howie Hodge, of an asphalt modified stock car as driven by family friend Eddy Spiers in the 1994 season at the Riverside Park Speedway in Agawam, Mass. The Park closed in 1999 to make way for a new roller coaster, but that place sure was a heck of a lot of fun while it lasted....Oh well....

I gave a tip to Jayski !!!!!

If you don't know who Jayski is and you like Nascar Cup racing do yourself a favor and get over to www.Jayski.com. This is the best site for news and rumors about Nascar racing. And I gave Jayski a heads up today.

After seeing where Red Bull Toyota was looking to place a rookie and a veteran driver together next year, the names of Kevin Harvick and Dale Jarrett came up as the veterans, but Jayski said any rookie names where unknown. I had just read in Autoweek magazine where champ car driver AJ Allmendinger has a service contract with Red Bull and could be with the cup team next year. I pointed Jayski to the article and he posted it. Mission accomplished!

Weekend Off..................

Ah yes one of the perks of my job. Every six weeks we get Friday (as the last day of a postal week) and Saturday (as the first day of the next week) off with our rotating days off deal. Now if we could just hire enough people to make sure the routes were all covered, I may actually be able to enjoy myself and not worry about the phone ringing. (Sidebar: We just did hire one person. The bad news is she's in the National Guard and won't be available one weekend every month and two weeks in the summer during prime time vacation. D'Oh!)

The weather here has been horrid and it is affecting my health. My arthritis is bothering my joints, especially in my hands and knees like it never has before. See, we go to Florida every year around mid-March, so that when we get home it's supposed to be spring. But not this year. We've had cold, rainy days, and even some snow on Wednesday Yikes. Had to leave the bicycle in the barn all week. Oh well it may start warming up on Sunday, but it has just started raining again. I think I've used more heating oil in the last two weeks than I did all winter........

The down side of having a weekend off is the dreaded six day week, Monday thru Saturday. Oh well...............

A Sunday of Sports...................

The remote control got a work out today with Nascar at Martinsville and my NJ Devils in Pittsburgh for an afternoon game.

The Devils needed to beat the Pens in order to (a) solidify their playoff position and (b) prove they could beat a bad team. Lately the Devils have been beating good teams and losing to bad teams. So this was a good test for the team, one which they almost lost. After Sid the kid scored one and assisted on another it was 2-1 Pens as the game wound down. The Devils got a late power play and pulled the goalie and managed to score with about 20 seconds left in the game to tie it up. Then Brian Gionta scored in the overtime giving the Devils two points... Yahoooooo...

Then to make it a perfect afternoon Tony Stewart won today's race. A nice battle with Jimmie Johnson and then holding off Jeff Gordon on two late restarts scored Stewart his 25th career victory and his first of this season. WTG Big Orange!

B.T.W. B.C.N.F.F.

B.T.W. (in this case) stands for Bike To Work which I have been doing the last two days. It is only four miles or so, but New England being what it is, there are a couple of killer hills. I leave early enough so I can take my time and also have time to cool down and get changed for work. The first day I was forced (!) to stay late and I had to ride extra hard to avoid the approaching darkness, Ohhh that hurt, cause it was my first ride of the year. Oh well, with day light savings time that won't be a problem anymore.

B.C.N.F.F.? Burn Calories Not Fossil Fuels! With gas approaching $3.00 a gallon again leaving the car in the barn is the way to go...................
