Moby and the Zambonis

Last Thursday was an eclectic night to say the least. International and best selling recording artist Moby brought his art collective, known as Little Idiot, to an art gallery in Stamford. He was selling and signing prints and t-shirts to raise money for Friends of Animals. A pet cause of his. Pun intended. They also decided to have a little music, so the worlds greatest hockey band, The Zambonis, were on the bill. So of course I was there. Besides the band I was the only guy in a hockey jersey. The sainted wife had the San Jose Sharks jacket. You just knew who we were there to see!

After an all to brief set by the Zambonis and a couple of songs by their friend James K. (no I am not going to attempt his last name), Moby came on with his band Heather. Not a synth or turntable in sight. Moby played guitar and Heather ground through some clasic rock songs. Billy Idol, Bad Co., Led Zepplin and G-n-R. Moby looked like he was just kickin back and enjoying himself. All in all a fun night.

2,000

Ok so far I've tried to keep this upbeat and fun, but I'm getting pissed off. Fall means that is time for politics and the news out of our nations capital is not good at all......

2,000. As in 2,000 dead American soldiers in Iraq. In a war that the president declared victory a year and a half ago. In a war were we have met our stated goals (remove Saddam, hold free elections). In a war that will not end. 2,000. How many innocent Iraq citizens? And do you feel any safer from terrorism? I think that it is more likely than not that an attack will occur just because we stay in Iraq. It is past time to GET OUT OF IRAQ, NOW!

Pat Tillman: Read a fascinating article in "The Nation" about the late Pat Tillman. He was the NFL player who signed on to fight the war against terrorism and was killed in Afghanistan. He was hailed by the Bushies as the ultimate American hero. I will agree with that, but there is more to Pat Tillman's story. It is of course known that he was killed by friendly fire. What has not been reported in the main steam media was that he felt the war in Iraq was illegal. That he turned down numerous attempts to make him a poster boy for recruitment. That his favorite author was uber-liberal Noam Chomsky. Kind of paints a different picture, eh Ann Coulter?

There is so much more (Delay, Frist) but I'll save it for another post.....

PEACE (please?)

And what a Great Week of Sports.....

Wow. Watched the Yanks wrap up the American League East yesterday. Watched the raace from Talladega today. Baseball playoffs start on Tuesday. AND THE NHL RETURNS ON Wednesday! Yahoo! Hockey's back. I paid the ransome and now get OLN on my cable TV. With the fact that we get three home teams (Rangers Devils and Islanders) and the games of the week on OLN, we should get at least one game a day, every day! Just drop the puck already!

Now That's What I'm Talking About.......

'Dega.........Plate Racing.........The Big One(s)...........and a great finish for Smoke (Tony Stewart) Darn shame that K. Petty crashed halfway through the last lap....I think Smoke had something for Dale Jarrett on the race back to the finish line...still second place is good...and Tony's back on top of the points...I think?
